Building Engagement Through Trees

By Dan Morrow | May 23, 2016

Many companies we work with look for new and different ways to build engagement among both their staff and customers through their corporate responsibility efforts. When done properly, this can really make an impact. One of our partners—Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) —recently worked with us to build a tree planting campaign with an employee/customer engagement component —the results are inspiring.

PHLY involved both customers and agents in their PHLY80KTrees initiative — a campaign to reduce the impact of natural disasters by planting 80,000 trees in communities in need across the U.S. Ten trees were planted for every agent or broker who enrolled in direct deposit for commissions and paperless statements, and 15 trees for every customer who enrolled in electronic billing. In addition, PHLY employees were given the opportunity to contribute to the campaign, boosting the efforts up by $7,000. To increase the level of engagement, PHLY employees were invited to vote on where the trees would be planted through an online polling system.

Through this partnership, 80,000 trees have been planted in Modoc National Forest, Superior National Forest, and Bastrop State Park. Fifty employees from across the country volunteered on the ground during the tree planting at Bastrop State Park—helping put trees in the ground in Texas.

We are always ready to help you find new ways to get your teams and customers involved in tree planting efforts. Reach out to the Corporate Partnership team to find out more.
