    Yellow Buckeye: A Rugged Beauty

    Aesculus flava (octandra) In 1784 while traveling near the Cheat River β€” in what is now West Virginia β€” sharp-eyed George Washington spotted a yellow buckeye with flowers that were purple instead of yellow.
