Autumn Tree Care

Cooler weather is a great time for planting trees and for the trees that you currently it is time to prepare them for the rapidly approaching winter months.

Here are some tips from our friends at Casey Trees in Washington DC.

-Remove slow-release watering bags from around your trees.  Tree trunks and the tree flare need to be exposed to air.

-Check the mulch.  Freshen mulch by adding 2 to 3 inches in a ring around the trunk.  Pull the mulch about 3 to 6 inches away from the truck so that the root flare can be exposed to air.

– If autumn days heat up giving your trees some water is good.  Do not water after the ground freezes.
