Arbor Day Celebrate Arbor Day

Arbor Day

By Frank Montoya | April 28, 2016

The following is a guest post by poet Frank Montoya.

Arbor Day – a day devoted to our friend, the Tree.

And the good it does for you and for me.
What a drab and barren, lifeless place the world would be…without the Tree.

The Tree is a like a year ’round Santa Claus; Just think of the wonderful gifts it brings.
What would life be without the Christmas Tree; Without Pecans, Apples, Walnuts or Tangerines?

Without the bounty of our friend the Tree How could we enjoy a Cherry Pie?
Or a delicious Fruit-Topped Almond Cake? And ice-cold lemonade…. on a hot day in July.

The Tree gives us beauty and the air we breathe, And cooling shade from the summer sun,
And the wood to help us build our home, sweet home; In which to retreat and relax, when the workday’s done.

Let’s make today a very special day. A day that will forever live in our memory.
We can enrich our planet, our town and our very lives, By simply planting a Tree… or two… or three!

And years from now when the trees are tall, Our children will see them and we will proudly say:
“We planted those trees a long, long time ago, On a very special day…. it was Arbor Day.”
